The story

Cathy and Glenn's love story began on March 4, 1985, at the Harbour Heights Hotel in Poole, Dorset. He was a long-term guest, and she was a waitress. Their connection was immediate, and they were engaged just two months later on Glenn’s birthday, May 23, 1985.

As they began planning their life together, they hit a few roadblocks. Glenn bought a house in Poole, while Cathy moved home to the Isle of Wight. With Glenn being a divorcee, finding a church that would marry them was a challenge, and traditional family values prevented them from living together beforehand. Eager to start their married life, they opted for a simple, last-minute ceremony at the Council Registry office in Newport. They married on Cathy's 21st birthday, March 4, 1986. While the date itself was memorable, the wedding was a basic affair, lacking the joyful celebration they dreamed of.

Now, on their upcoming 40th anniversary and on the day of Glenn's 65th birthday, they want to give Cathy the wedding day she never had—a magical and celebratory event for them, their family, and friends to enjoy.

Accommodation

We appreciate the weekend coincides with the Spring Bank Holiday and the start of half term for many schools so getting down here from further afield may need some planning! To help, we've listed alternative accommodation venues here:

Photographs

Back in '86, photographs were taken on cameras which relied on having a 'film' inserted in them and someone who knew what they were doing to operate it. Sadly for us, the last part didn't happen and as a result we don't have any official photographs of the day.

We would like all of you to be official photographers so take as many photos of the afternoon and evening on your phones - and don't just focus on us, you are as much a part of the day as we are!

Send us your unguarded, funny and lovely moments of the day via this QR code:
